American-based saxophonist and producer Alex Nekrasov was introduced to music at the age of 4 by his mother, a professional classical pianist, and since then has studied classical and jazz saxophone for 11 years at two specialized music schools in Rostov-on-Don, Russia.

At the age of 13 Nekrasov got the first alto position in the original line up of now famous Rostov children’s big-band, which subsequently led to numerous tours in Germany and later the UK, where Alex was among the youngest members to perform at Glasgow Jazz Festival 1999 and 2000. One of the landmark events while in Russia was winning the grand prize of the International Young Jazz Performer competition, deemed as the most prestigious award for any instrumentalist under age of 30. But wanting further expansion of his career Alex made a move to the United States and was immediately accepted at the University of Denver on full scholarship.

While at the school Nekrasov was approached by a GRP recording artist Nelson Rangell to produce his next three records, which allowed Alex to work with such prominent artists as The Yellowjackets, Earl Klugh, Brian Bromberg, Chuck Loeb, Don Grusin, as well as with engineers Bill Douglass (R.Kelly, Celine Dion, Smashing Pumpkins) and Justin Peacock (Sarah McLachlan, John Mayer, Pat Metheny).

In 2006 Alex got a chance to write several orchestral scores for Colorado Symphony Orchestra, which were premiered that summer by the CSO along with scores by Vince Mendoza and Billy Childs and had a great success. In 2009 Alex co-created Truetet – an innovative trio that sounds like no other and continues to amaze audiences nationally, as well as overseas.

Truetet utilizes Alex’s masterful EWI (Electric Wind Instrument) facilities to provide the trio with fluid bass lines whenever saxophone playing is not essential. Among his latest credits as a producer are recordings featuring Grammy-winning bassist Eddie Gomez (Bill Evans, Chick Corea), legendary pianist Bob James, trumpet virtuoso Randy Brecker, and other top studio musicians in the US and Europe.

Currently Alex is working on developing innovative professional audio technologies at Innersonix, a company he co-founded in 2009, as well as collaborating with world-class musicians both in studios and on stage.
